Brigitte Hagen-Peter’s role as the Global Lead for Marine Projects at New Wave Offshore Energy involves focusing on marine assurance and risk reduction for offshore energy projects worldwide. Brigitte holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation, with a Minor in International Maritime Business, from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where she graduated in 2009. Her 10+ years of experience in offshore energy and port operations makes her well-equipped for her current global leadership role.
Brigitte contributed to the growth and development of maritime assets during her time with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE). Her position required in-depth vessel market knowledge and a complete understanding of a vessel’s suitability in a proposed task, such as the Installation Vessel for WTGs. During her tenure with SGRE, she was the Co-Chair for the Maritime Subcommittee within American Clean Power (ACP). While serving as Co-Chair, Brigitte supported renewable energy policies and assisted in writing and reviewing industry guidelines for offshore wind. She also offered SME advice for DP vessels working in the construction and installation phase of offshore wind turbine installation.
Before SGRE, she worked at a global marine assurance company, where she was the lead auditor performing multiple FMEAs, Annual Trials, CATs, and various other audits. Before working in the Marine Assurance industry, she was the Safety and Compliance Officer for North Carolina State Port’s Authority, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulatory and industry standards (USCG, CBP, IMO, etc). Before joining the North Carolina State Port’s Authority, Brigitte’s years of shipping experience gave her firsthand experience with understanding vessel operations, regulatory requirements, and vessel suitability on a global scale.
Brigitte is married to a fellow mariner who shares her love for the Maritime world. She is a mother to a feisty set of twin toddlers and a four-legged furball named Leia. When she is not working, you will find her spending time with her family, enjoying the outdoors, or on the boat.
