About Morvan Le Dorven

“The Sea has always been part of my life and passion.”

Having grown up close to or on the water, Morvan followed a natural path into the Merchant Navy, achieving the highest awards in Nautical Science (BSc) and commencing his sea-going career as a Merchant Navy Officer with Maersk.  Initially involved in global shipping on gas carriers and on the innovative Floating Gas Storage and Offload vessel Nkossa II.

A move to Maersk Supply Services revealed the Maritime Industry that genuinely fit his skills and passion. Morvan discovered true ship handling, a deeper appreciation of offshore risk management, teamwork development, offshore innovation, and a drive for professional growth.
Heavily involved in deepwater anchorhandling, rig moving operations, Subsea Construction, DP Operations, FPSO hookups, tension leg mooring systems, pre-lay mooring operations, and Torpedo Anchor Innovations and Operations.

Following a new build vessel (AHTS) project, he moved to Noble Denton in ABU Dhabi as a Marine Surveyor, focusing on offshore Marine Warranty projects, rig moving operations, and general marine consultancy.  Progressing steadily to the role of Manager for the Abu Dhabi Office with P&L responsibility, overall project management responsibilities, and leading teams of Master Mariners, Structural Engineers, Naval Architects, and DP Practitioners.

During this period, the company transitioned to GL Noble Denton and, from then on, to DNV-GL Noble Denton. Morvan then transferred to Houston, Texas, as the Dynamic Positioning Manager for North America,  leading Teams of DP Practitioners and managing the DP business line for DNV-GL Noble Denton.

After a period as Business Development Lead for DNV-GL Noble Denton North America, he returned to Ireland to continue his marine consultancy work for offshore operations, marine warranty, project management, and rig moving operations.
